Sandblasting & Surface Preparation
Each process is chosen based on the material and condition. Sandblasting uses high pressure for heavy-duty rust removal on durable metals, while plastic media blasting uses lower pressure to safely clean thinner or more sensitive surfaces without warping. In addition to Sandblasting & Surface Preparation, we also offer Vehicle & Equipment Painting and Collision Repair & Auto Body Work throughout the Bloomington-Normal area.
Sandblasting & Surface Preparation for Durable, Clean Results
Sandblasting
Sandblasting uses high-pressure air to remove rust and heavy coatings from durable metal surfaces. It is best suited for thicker materials such as trailers, tankers, frames, agricultural equipment, race car frames, fencing, industrial equipment, and floor boards.
Plastic Media Blasting
Plastic media blasting uses low-pressure, non-abrasive particles to strip coatings without removing metal. This makes it ideal for body panels and other thin materials where sandblasting could cause heat-related warping.
Material Considerations
Each surface is evaluated before blasting. Sandblasting is used for heavy-duty applications, while plastic media is used on materials like steel, brass, copper, and cast iron when preserving the underlying surface is important.
Combined Approach
When needed, both methods can be used together. Sandblasting can address rusted areas, while plastic media blasting is used on surrounding surfaces to maintain consistency and prevent damage.
